New Music Friday
We are excited over some new dance tracks and albums that released this week. The dance floor demands our presence.
Lane 8 - Cross Pollination 2 (album)

Lane 8 (Daniel Goldstein), the American DJ and producer just dropped his album off his label This Never Happened. Following a creative pivot after his deeply personal, and emotional album Childish, Lane 8 calls upon his friends to curate an album that looks outward. He shares on his personal Instagram, " As always, I am so grateful for the joy of making music with real humans...this is what it’s all about. Feeling a sense of connection and common purpose as we push towards a shared goal." The fourteen track project, double the size of 2020's Cross Pollination, builds on that blueprint of an album entirely comprised of collaborative partners.
The album spans through ambient house, melodic techno, and emotional progressive rhythms. "World is Mine," the fourth track off the album is an uplifting, hopeful song. You can hear his signature sound which transcends genres. It is followed by a reprise "Empty Theatre, Pretty Picture" features a familiar voice from AFI's Davey Havok. The provocative vocals of the title track mixed in with a perfect upbeat techno is one of the more fast-paced songs off the album.
Lane 8's recognizable sound is characterized by soul-stirring melodies, intricate melodies that evokes a profound emotional connection with his audience. The dreamy melodic sound he creates is woven into the album perfect. His ability to create an album that appeals to both an upbeat music club or festival and an at-home listening experience is what puts him apart from other producers and DJs.

ANOTR- Withness (album)

The third studio album, Withness, from the Amsterdam duo is out via their label No Art imprint. The club centric dance album is one of the most cohesive albums of theirs to date. Collaborating frequently with songwriter and producer 3DDY off the album, tracks like "Like It" bring a soul, indie vibe that makes you want to groove on the dance floor. The album brings out the classic 909-inspired rhythms, sitting alongside 1980's tinged textures, layered vocals, mixed in with modern production techniques. In the track "Faster," you can hear the distinct ANOTR sound that makes them so unique.
Their single "Talk To You" featuring singer 54 Ultra which has already gained almost 100 million streams is an instant classic. The synth rock track mixed in with nu-disco is one of their most prolific off the album.
Another pre-released track off the album is "Sound of You," featuring TEED. This collaboration is a perfect pairing for the groove-heavy soulful track.
"Is it raining yet?
Is it pouring down?
I don’t need the sun
I just need the sound of you"
ANOTR's infectious recognizable sound is here to stay and we hope to see them at one of their No Art’s free pop-up events.
