New Music Friday

We are pumped about the release of some new dance tracks and albums that released this week. Here are a few that will definitely turn the heat up this summer.

horsegiirL - NATURE IS HEALING (album)

RCA Records

The German DJ, singer, and songwriter just dropped her debut album NATURE IS HEALING. With already multiple international music festivals and Coachella under her belt, it was only a matter of time before we were graced with an album. The happy hardcore upbeat DJ went a different direction with a more Euro sound with her track "hands hands hands," you almost hear an ode to "Stereo Love" in there. The opening track "351%" gives a nostalgic Y2k vibe. It is like back when you were a tween and wore the 2000s 90% Angel, 10% Devil graphic t-shirts you could get at Limited Too or Charlotte Russe. There is also a lot of fun pop elements to the track similarly to an older Charli xcx vibe.

"One percent angel, ninety percent not
A few percent crazy, hundred percent hot
Twelve percent, "Oh my God," five percent, "What?"
If I was a symphony, it would be a bop
Ten percent cutie, twenty percent shock
Ninety-nine percent I get whatever I want
Twelve percent work hard, two percent luck
You can love or hatе on me, I don't give a—"

"fun guy fungi" is an interesting melodic piece with plenty of piano and experimental sounds, and the title track starts out as a pop ballad almost like a 2000s Hilary Duff track. You just want to listen to the track and stare out the window as the rain hits the glass. The album picks up with the track "an apple a day" and it reminds you why you love horsegiirl because she can sing a melodic tune or write a tune simply about eating an apple.

Overall the album is concise and all the tracks melt well into each other, making it an easy cohesive listen. She is going on tour and will be in Los Angeles in September at The Forum. Will you be galloping to her next show?

Skrillex - SOMA (album)

OSWLA / Atlantic

Were we really surprised that Skrillex was going to drop a new album? With a recent collaboration with Chris Lake and ANITA B QUEEN for their track "LA NOCHE," it was only a matter of time for a full album to be in the works. Chris Lake and Skrillex go back almost 10 years when Skrillex invited Chris Lake to co-curate the HOWSLA compilation under his label OWSLA. Skrillex even championed Lake to establish his own independent imprint Black Book Records so it is no surprise to see the two back together on this album. The rework of their recent track with "La Noche 2" is a completely different sound. The drumless ambient sound is definitely a departure from its original form as a high speed house banger.

The opening and title track "Soma" is a build up to a classic Skrillex sound with a primal element to it. Teaming up with Nitepunk, the track was first tested out during his Miami Ultra 2025 set. It is the perfect track to set the tone for the rest of the album. "Tranki" and "Smoke" turn up the heat. With the latter track, there is a familiar lyric, "Con los terroristas," that instantly brings you back to 2012's "Harlem Shake" era. The Latin, Brazilian, and global club textures sprinkled throughout the entire album are such a treat. Chris Lake appears on the album more than just once, and “É o Bonde" is a perfect mixture of both their sounds straight into a house track banger.

This is an amazing follow up from his 2025 project F*CK U SKRILLEX YOU THINK UR ANDY WARHOL BUT UR NOT!! <3. Skrillex will always be a dubstep disruptor and we can't wait to see him at Portola once again.

Prospa - Free Your Mind (album)

The UK duo has been making waves and performing at every major club and festival including Coachella and EDC. To say they are the most sought out duo at the moment would be an understatement. With a few singles like "Love Song", "Baby" and the title track "Free Your Mind" with Cloonee already out and in heavy rotation, this album was highly-anticipated. The album brings back the classic straightforward house mixed in with tech house and hip-hop elements. Bringing in Murda Beatz on a track was a smart crossover with his influence in the hip-hop world. It also wouldn't be a Prospa song without an ad-lib slipped in on every other track. Those ad-libs just scratch that part of the brain that's needed.

There are a lot of love-soaked vocals on this album and it would be safe to say that the duo brings out a 90's rave nostalgia polished with that UK house sound. The album is out on CircoLoco Records, an independent label co-formed by Rockstar Games so it wouldn't be a surprise if a track or two ends up on the long-awaited GTA 6.They are performing in LA at The Shrine this fall with 3 almost sold out shows.
